Office Based Surgery

Office Based Surgery is a tremendous value for both the patient and physician practice. Patients benefit from substantially lower costs, and physicians enjoy higher revenues and convenience while achieving superior outcomes.

In the traditional facility based model of surgical care, the surgeon refers the patient to a hospital or outpatient surgical facility to access surgical supplies, surgical technicians, nurses, and anesthesia professional services. The facility charges a large facility fee, in addition to the professional fees of the surgeon and anesthesiologist.

Physicians often refer their patients to hospitals or outpatient surgical facilities solely for access to anesthesia services. However, many procedures of appropriate complexity can be safely performed in the office setting. By mobilizing the anesthesia service and bringing it to the office, patients and surgeons avoid the hassle and expense of facility based care without sacrificing access to anesthesiology support.

We do not charge the office for this service, and our fees to the patient are a tiny fraction of what they would encounter at any outpatient facility. We work with all insurance carriers, and we provide complimentary consultation and preauthorization.

Another enormous benefit to the surgeon is the ability to conduct the procedure in the comfort of their own office. Surgeon’s are all too familiar with the inefficiencies encountered in facility based settings. Admission and turnover delays are costly to the practice and cut into productivity. By hosting minor procedures in the office, the surgeon enjoys total control over the procedural logistics, and is free to tune the process to their high standards.

Additionally, because the procedure is located in the office, the physician can remain productive between cases by scheduling consultations. This maximizes the efficiency of the day, and cuts out down time.

Patients receiving surgical care in the office experience benefits in both cost and convenience, without sacrificing quality. Surgeons experience convenience and revenue benefits. It is a tremendous, valuable service to offer.

Our approach incorporates a comprehensive, portable anesthesia monitoring and treatment suite that satisfies national anesthesia monitoring standards, and enables us to ensure a safe anesthetic. We also provide the medications and disposables necessary to provide a state of the art anesthetic. The typical facility fee imposed at hospitals and surgery centers begins at around $4,000 (Hospital) and $2,000 (ASC) in addition to the anesthesia provider fees. In many cases, we will settle with the insurance company for only the reasonable anesthesia provider fee, saving the patient thousands of dollars and providing them with an experience that is typically preferred over admission and treatment at a hospital or ASC.
